WHAT IS CLASSICAL GUITAR?
The term "classical" in this case can refer to both the instrument and the highly effective technique used when playing it. It does not necessarily refer to the genre of music being played. Although classical music is frequently played on the classical guitar, it is helpful to think of the instrument as similar to a violin or piano because it can play many different types of music.
Classical guitars typically have a nylon type of string in the trebles and metal (sometimes silver) wrapped basses with a nylon like core. Fluorocarbons, synthetic composites, gut and silk strings are also available. Different types of strings have unique sound qualities that one guitarist might prefer over another.
